Chinese New Year is such a wonderful time for gathering with family and friends, and for me, comfort food is always the best choice. This year, I found the perfect comforting feast at Soup Restaurant — warm, hearty, and full of flavours that make reunion dinners feel cozy, joyful, and effortless.
农历新年是与亲友团聚的美好时光,而暖心美食总是我的不二之选。今年,我在“Soup Restaurant”找到了最完美的慰藉盛宴——温暖、丰盛、风味十足,让团圆饭充满温馨、欢乐与轻松。

Chinese New Year is hands-down my favorite time of year. It’s all about laughter, catching up with family and friends, and of course… food that feels like a big warm hug. This year, I was excited to check out Soup Restaurant’s CNY offerings, and honestly, they didn’t disappoint.

First up, the Fresh Fish Maw with Collagen Chicken Soup—and yes, it’s as luxurious as it sounds. I loved how the soup was simmered for over two hours, so every spoonful was rich and comforting—perfect with the recent chilly weather. The New Zealand fish maw was silky and tender, soaking up all that flavour beautifully. Plus, it’s served in a claypot with a mini stove to keep it warm the whole meal—just the kind of cosy, slow dinner I love sharing with family.

If you’re looking to really wow your loved ones, the Braised Abalone Seafood Pot with Dried Oysters is a must. This is truly a showstopper. Packed with 10-head abalone, prawns, sea cucumber, fish maw, roast pork, and more, every bite is rich and umami-packed. The abalone and oyster broth ties everything together beautifully—it feels like a hug in a bowl, perfect for a festive family gathering.

Baby Abalone & Salmon with Crispy Yam and Longan Yu Sheng felt fresh and festive, with a crunchy nest of fried yam and sweet potato strips, sweet bursts of longan, and topped with baby abalone or salmon. Tossing it with the citrus sauce made the whole thing feel light, bright, and lucky—a fun way to start the meal on a cheerful note. I am a longan lover. This is a refreshing change.

Samsui Ginger Chicken never disappoints. The poached chicken is silky smooth, paired with that fragrant ginger sauce that just elevates every bite. It’s classic comfort food that always feels like home. So flavourful and different layers of textures.

Soup Restaurant has such a nice mix of dishes—there’s also the Classic Steamed rice with Chinese sausage, refreshing celtuce with Chinese yam and assorted vegetables. I also love the Orange Peel Red Bean Paste with Taro Balls. It was pure nostalgia—sweet red bean with just a hint of orange peel, and those chewy taro balls! It’s the kind of sweet ending that leaves you feeling all warm and cozy inside.
For a full-on feast, I’d go for the Prosperity Set (from $138 for 2 pax) featuring the collagen soup, or the Abundance Set (from $198 for 2 pax) which stars the braised abalone seafood pot. Both dine-in sets come with their Signature Samsui Ginger Chicken.
On top of the food, Soup Restaurant continues their collaboration with Singaporean artist Lee Jun Le, with collectible red packets and recycle tote bags for diners to redeem.
This Chinese New Year, I’m all about dishes that nourish, comfort, and bring everyone together. Soup Restaurant’s festive menu does exactly that!
