Day 1: Singapore -> Sydney
Moving on from our Jeju trip last December, we decided to up the challenge — this time, bringing our parents along for the adventure. It was our first multi-generational family trip overseas, and what better destination than Sydney, Australia?
We flew with our all-time favourite airline — Singapore Airlines, known for its comfort and excellent service. Arriving early at Changi Airport Terminal 2, we enjoyed a relaxed start to our journey: had an early dinner, caught a movie, and visited the Butterfly Garden before boarding.
Upon landing in Sydney, we picked up our rental car from Avis. Although there was a short delay, it gave us the perfect excuse for a quick coffee break. Soon, we were handed the keys to a spacious Toyota Hiace — ideal for our group of 6 adults, 3 young kids, and a mountain of luggage.
We headed straight to our accommodation for check-in. While the apartment looked a little dated and the bedding could have been more comfortable, it was clean, spacious, and located in a safe, accessible area — a great base for exploring Sydney with both kids and elderly parents.
Of course, no family trip to Australia starts without a quick stop at Woolworths! On day one, we stocked up on essentials like water, snacks, fruits, and breakfast items — must-haves when you’re travelling with a big group.

Day 2: Koala Park Sanctuary
We planned a relaxed and easy start to our Sydney family itinerary. Our day began with a delightful brunch at The Sunny Side Café, a cozy local spot known for its comforting vibes. The pasta, pancakes, and freshly brewed coffee were just what we needed to ease into the day.
Just a short drive away was the Koala Park Sanctuary Sydney, a wonderful place to visit with young children and elderly parents. We appreciated how compact and accessible it was — perfect for families who prefer to avoid too much walking. The sanctuary offered a good variety of Australian wildlife, and we were lucky to catch the koalas wide awake and active! The kids were thrilled — especially the boys, who couldn’t stop smiling.
After the visit, we made another stop at Woolworths for groceries. A lovely touch — they offered free fruit for kids, which kept the boys happily entertained with bananas while we shopped.
We ended the day with a comforting home-cooked steak dinner at our accommodation. Juicy, tender, and full of flavour. So satisfying!

Day 3: Outlet Shopping
Craving some Korean BBQ in Sydney, we did a bit of research and came across Myung Jang Korean BBQ in Chatswood, which had glowing reviews — and it absolutely lived up to the hype! It turned out to be our best meal of the entire trip, and honestly, we’re still thinking about it.
The spread of side dishes (banchan) was impressive, offering a wide variety of flavours. The BBQ meats were perfectly marinated, tender, and juicy, and the Korean fried chicken was a standout — crispy on the outside, moist and flavourful inside. We spent so long enjoying our meal that we had to adjust our plans for the day.
Instead of our original itinerary, we headed to Birkenhead Point Outlet Centre for some retail therapy. While it wasn’t the most exciting stop for the kids, the adults had a great time browsing the deals.
By the end of the day, we were exhausted and opted for a takeaway dinner from Valentine’s Wood Fire Pizza. It turned out to be another great choice — the pizza was fresh, delicious, and the perfect way to end a packed day.

Day 4: Blue Mountains
We checked the weather forecast and saw that it was a perfect day for exploring the Blue Mountains. Setting off early, we made sure to catch the last rides for the day. With clear skies, the iconic Three Sisters rock formation was visible in all its glory, making it an ideal spot for plenty of photo-taking.
The highlight of our visit was definitely the thrilling cable car rides and the steepest railway in the world, offering breathtaking views of the valley below. We also caught a glimpse of a beautiful waterfall during our hike. Although we hurried to complete the trail, we paused often to capture the stunning scenery.
To end the day on a comforting note, we enjoyed a warm and satisfying dinner at Gourmet Noodle House, craving some delicious Asian cuisine after a day full of adventure and memorable snapshots.

Day 5: Indoor Playground & Shopping
Visiting an indoor playground is a great way to keep young kids happy and entertained. We brought the little ones to Enjoy Indoor Playground at Vitaland Kids Cafe in Warriewood—a hidden gem perfect for families with young kids!
The playground wasn’t huge, but it had just the right mix of engaging activities for toddlers and young children. Best of all, it was pleasantly quiet during our visit, making it a stress-free experience for parents. While the kids played, we relaxed with a casual lunch at the on-site cafe.
Meanwhile, the grandparents enjoyed some retail therapy at nearby Kmart, Woolworths, and Coles. Later, we cooked a warm, home-style dinner using fresh ingredients from Woolworths and Coles, adding a personal touch to our cozy family evening.

Day 6: Fruit Picking
One of the highlights of our Sydney family trip was visiting TNT Produce Cafe, where we started our day with delicious pastries before heading out for some fun fruit picking. The kids had a blast harvesting fresh apples, lemons, and oranges straight from the trees — a must-do family activity near Sydney!
We also celebrated our dad’s birthday on this day, making it even more special. For dinner, we warmed up with a hearty steamboat meal at Memory Tongue Hotpot in Chatswood — absolutely perfect for the chilly weather. To wrap up the celebration, we picked up a birthday cake from Woolworths and added a personal touch with some DIY decorations.

Day 7: Beach Time
One of the best things about traveling is enjoying a mix of activities and delicious food—and our Sydney family trip had just that! We picked up a takeaway brunch from Lakeside Fish Market, where the oysters, fish and chips, and fresh seafood were simply amazing. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. A hidden gem!
We found a lovely picnic spot nearby to enjoy our meal, and to our delight, it was right next to a well-maintained outdoor playground. The kids had an absolute blast playing while we soaked in the relaxing atmosphere.
No Sydney family adventure is complete without some beach time! We headed to Manly Beach for a breezy afternoon. Despite the cool weather, the kids were full of energy—building sandcastles and running along the shore. Meanwhile, the grandparents took a relaxing break with some coffee and a bit of shopping.
To wrap up this wonderful day, we prepared a comforting homecooked pasta dinner, making our trip feel even more like a home away from home.

Day 8: The Rocks
No family trip to Sydney is complete without snapping those must-have photos at the Sydney Opera House—one of the city’s most iconic landmarks and a definite highlight for visitors from Singapore. After soaking in the stunning views, we took a relaxing stroll to The Rocks, a charming historic district perfect for sightseeing, exploring quaint shops, and enjoying the old-world charm.
Of course, we couldn’t skip a visit to the famous Pancakes on The Rocks, where we treated ourselves to fluffy, delicious pancakes—an ideal brunch stop for families with kids!
We briefly considered hopping on a Sydney Harbour ferry for a different view of the city, but it wasn’t the most cost-effective option for our family of five. That said, if you’re travelling as a couple or in a smaller group, a ferry ride offers a scenic and memorable way to experience Sydney Harbour.
For dinner, we headed to El Jannah Chicken in Crows Nest—a popular local spot recommended by a friend. The charcoal chicken was perfectly grilled, juicy, and packed with flavour. A must-try for Singaporean foodies looking for casual but satisfying meals in Sydney! And of course, we couldn’t resist ending the night with ice cream from Gelatissimo Crows Nest, a sweet treat the kids (and adults!) thoroughly enjoyed.
Before calling it a day, we made a quick stop to catch a glimpse of the Sydney Light Festival. The vibrant lights and artistic installations lit up the city in the most magical way—truly a gorgeous sight to remember.

Day 9: Animal Farm
We kicked off the day with a delicious brunch at Wildpear Café, a charming spot known for its unique and flavourful dishes—perfect fuel for our next stop at Golden Ridge Animal Farm, which is located nearby.
Golden Ridge Animal Farm turned out to be one of the highlights of our Sydney family trip. The kids absolutely loved the hands-on experiences—from feeding and cuddling rabbits and ducklings to milking a cow! The boys even got to enjoy pony rides and mini excavator fun, making it an unforgettable day for the little ones (and adults too!).
After all that excitement, we were famished and made our way to The Vintage Secret Garden for a relaxing afternoon tea. The setting was beautiful and peaceful—a lovely break for both kids and grown-ups.
On the way back, we couldn’t resist stopping by the Lindt Factory Outlet for some sweet treats, followed by a quick grocery run at Woolworths to prep for another homecooked dinner to end the day.

Day 10: Sydney Fish Market & Muesum
We kicked off Day 10 in Sydney with a delicious brunch at the iconic Sydney Fish Market — a must-visit for all seafood lovers! The market is home to several seafood stalls offering an incredible variety of fresh catches. From juicy oysters to grilled prawns and sashimi, everything was super fresh and flavour-packed. If you love seafood, this place is a foodie paradise you won’t want to miss!
After brunch, we headed over to the Australian Museum, located just a short distance away. Good news for travellers — admission is free, even for tourists! The museum features impressive exhibitions ranging from natural history to Aboriginal culture, and it’s also very family-friendly with interactive sections for kids.
To end the day, we stopped by Woolworths and prepared our final home-cooked dinner in Sydney. We grilled some Aussie steaks — always a favourite of ours when visiting. The meat here is incredibly tender, juicy, and full of flavour — a perfect way to wrap up our last evening in Sydney.

Day 11: Departure
Can’t believe it’s already Day 11 – our final day in Sydney! After checking out of our Airbnb, we were glad our flight was scheduled for early afternoon, giving us a bit of time for one last meal.
We stopped by Café Nate, a cosy spot conveniently located along the way to Sydney International Airport. It was the perfect place for a quick breakfast before our flight. Great coffee, hearty meals, and a relaxing vibe — a lovely final taste of Sydney before heading back to Singapore.
After breakfast, we returned our rental car and made our way to the airport. Till next time, Sydney!
