Some catch-ups deserve more than just coffee! Had the chance to experience the new English Afternoon Tea at Pacific Emporium with a good friend, and it was an afternoon of good food, great conversations, and thoughtful details.
There’s something nice about catching up with a good friend over afternoon tea, especially when there’s plenty of good food to enjoy while chatting away. I recently visited Pacific Emporium at Pan Pacific Singapore with a good friend to try their new British-inspired afternoon tea, and the beautifully crafted sweet and savoury treats certainly caught our attention.
Created by Executive Sous Chef Cheah Hun Leong and Executive Pastry Chef Edina Si, the afternoon tea menu is available daily until 18 November 2026.
We started with the Royale Lavender Earl Grey, a refreshing floral drink made with Earl Grey tea, fragrant lavender and lemon zest. It was light and fragrant, a lovely way to ease into the afternoon.
A Three-Tiered Stand of Sweet and Savoury Treats
The weekday afternoon tea is priced at $58++ per person and comes with a beautiful three-tiered stand filled with sweet and savoury creations. Everything was so prettily presented that I almost couldn’t bear to eat them!
Among the savoury bites were Duck Rillettes Mille-feuille with plum confit and Siberian caviar, an Earl Grey-infused Mini Salmon Bagel, and Bacon-wrapped Shrimp with a blackcurrant glaze. I enjoyed having different flavours and textures to try, with each little bite offering something different.
Another thing I liked about the weekday set is that it includes a choice of main course, so there’s more to the meal than just the afternoon tea stand.
We had the Braised Beef Short Rib, which was incredibly tender, paired with crispy garlic bread that added a lovely crunch. We also tried the Kedgeree. It was a little oily for my liking, but comforting and flavourful, and nice to share between us.
With the food served at a leisurely pace, it was easy to settle in, enjoy the dishes and catch up over conversation without feeling rushed.
Pretty Desserts and Warm Scones
The sweet treats were just as lovely to look at. We had the Pistachio Kunafe-style Tart and Pink Grapefruit Mint Gâteau, each offering its own combination of flavours and textures.
My favourite little detail? The freshly baked Classic and Yuzu Scones were served towards the end of the meal, so they were still warm when we got to them. They came with English clotted cream, honey and raspberry jam — just the way I’d want to enjoy my afternoon tea scones.
To finish, the Green Apple Sorbet came with English breakfast tea jelly, dill and celery. It was refreshing and offered a nice contrast to the richer savoury bites and sweet treats we had earlier.
Weekend Afternoon Tea Buffet
If you prefer more variety, the weekend afternoon tea is served buffet-style, with unlimited servings from the Chef’s Speciality Showcase.
It’s priced at $68++ per adult and $34++ per child aged 6 to 12. You can pair the food with TWG teas or Robert Timms coffee, or add a glass of Taittinger Brut Réserve Champagne for $20++ if you’re in the mood to make the occasion a little more special.
I’d go for the weekday set if you prefer a more relaxed, served experience, while the weekend buffet is worth considering if you enjoy having more choices and going back for your favourites.
A Lovely Spot for Afternoon Tea in Singapore
All in all, it was a lovely afternoon spent catching up with a good friend over pretty desserts, savoury bites and warm scones. I especially appreciated the presentation of the afternoon tea stand and the main course that came with the weekday set, which made the meal more satisfying.
