Happy Valentine Day! A lot of restaurant are always so crowded on this day that they will usually offer only 2 seating. It is always either 6pm or 8+pm. 6 too early and 8+pm seems too late to me. Ramada organise an al fresco dinner on the brand new lawn just by the Ramada pool, specially prepared for 15 couples. The best is that there is no 2 seating constraint. Luckily, we managed to make a booking. Initially, I was worried as weather forecast that there might be rain. Luckily, the weather was great. There wasn't any rain and only a bit too windy but it make the place really breezy and cooling! rose_glasses ramada_under_moon
Ambience
It was a beautiful night. Dining under stars. This year valentine day also coincides with full moon. The moon lit up the sky. The 15 tables were laid a short distance from the pool. I thought it would actually be really beside the pool. I guess it will also disturb their hotel guests and us if they were swimming while we eat. It was pretty quiet. The other couples were all talking softly to each other. ramada_valentine_dinner ramada_pool
Service
The service is simply terrific!!! When we reach the lobby, the service staff brought us all the way to the pool side dinner area. They swiftly show us to our table. The wine was free flow. They keep topping up the glasses for us. When they notice we were taking photos, they offer to help us take photo. They also clear our plates quickly when we finished our food. They were a bit slow to start the first dishes though. Overall, we were really impressed by their service! Well Done!
Food
It was a valentine set dinner.
Free Flow of Limited Edition Chandon Brut (Australia). ramada_chandon_brut
It is straw yellow in colour. A fresh fruit bouquet of citrus blossom and subtle touches of pear.
Dinner start with complimentary Bread ramada_bread
They took a bit long to serve the bread. It was soft and warm. I love the bread!
First course, we start it off with Scallop with Marinated Melon, Caviar and Baby Beet. ramada_scallop
The melon and scallop complement each other so well. hmm Caviar...don't really know how to appreciate it but it gives a luxury touch to the dish.
Second course, Porcini Mushroom with Smoked Potatoes and Truffle foam ramada_soup
First time I drink mushroom soup with potatoes. The potatoes gives it a different texture to the soup. The soup was fragrant and creamy.
Third course, Poached Halibut with Baby Clams served with Fennel Broth ramada_fish
The fish is a beautiful sight. Unfortunately, the place was too dark to be able to really see the dish well. The bad part is the fish is really fishy. I think there is the only negative point for the entire dinner.
Fourth course, Slow Braised Beef Cheek with Soy Jus and Butter Chive Mashed Potatoes ramada_beef_cheek
I always love beef cheek! Soft and tender. Not the best beef cheek I had but it is still good.
Dessert time, Coconut Panna Cotta and Gula Melaka and Fine Pralines with Strawberries
At first, I thought it was ice cream but it was panna cotta. Nice! I love it. Dessert always my favourite! The strawberries were fresh and the pralines were also very delicately done. ramada_panna_cotta ramada_chocolates
