Tien Court~ Just got back from my wonderful Australia Trip! Time flies! Christmas has just passed and here come our Chinese New Year! A heartwarming event of the year where many families and friends come together for the annual gathering to celebrate. Delicious culinary dishes and goodies are definitely some of many things that people look forward to during this celebration. Am so glad to be invited to try Tien Court Chinese New Year dishes! My first Chinese New Year dinner of 2016! The exquisite auspicious dishes sound so luxurious and delicious to welcome the prosperous and bountiful year of the Monkey. Thanks to Jennifer and Tien Court to give me the opportunity to try their CNY 2016 offerings! TienCourt_650_5

The place is doll up with Chinese New Year feel in the air. The splashes of auspicious red color filled the many corners of the place. Love the lanterns! What an exquisite beauty! Oh cool and they listed down the strength and weakness of each zodiac animal. Hmm.. Am born in the year of Rooster. Ops. I am gullible and perfectionist haha. Oh dear sound bad haha. Ok I will try to be less perfect. LOL *Winkz* TienCourt_650_4 TienCourt_650_6 TienCourt_650_7 TienCourt_650_8 TienCourt_650_3 TienCourt_650_2

I feel so honored to meet the man behind the masterful culinary creations. It is no other but Celebrity Masterchef, Ho Tien Tsai! He is very knowledgable and friendly. He brought us through the different types of water to cook dishes. Amazing! Didn't know that the same clear water can be actually can make so much difference to a dish. Prosperity Swordfish and Salmon Yu Sheng 鱼生 S$48 (Medium), S$68 (Large)~ Yu Sheng also known as the Prosperity Toss! It usually consists of raw fish slices, shredded vegetables of different colors and a variety of sauces and condiments. Yu sheng is considered a symbol of increase of abundance and prosperity. It is one of my favourite dish in all chinese new year dinner. It is fun as you pour in the different ingredient with auspicious greetings. Finally, everyone come together and toss excitedly while they shout the well wishes. Some even try to toss as high as possible. It is also said that for the wishes to come true, you will need to finished the whole dish. This is the first time I try the Swordfish Yu Sheng Version. A refreshing change. It gives a different texture to the yu sheng.A bit more QQ than salmon. For non-sashimi lovers, you can also request to change for crispy fish skin as a replacement.

Double-boiled Superior Shark's Fin in Shark's Cartilage Soup (鲨鱼骨炖中鲍翅)~ Oh My! This is my most favourite dish of all! The soup is so rich and creamy! I understand that it was boiled for at least 8 hours before being served! Wow I am sure there is a lot of collagen inside haha. Good for skin! Not forgetting the sharkfin! A popular delicacy! The sharkfin gave a different texture to the soup. I understand that this is only available during Chinese New Year period. They do have fish maw version as well. Check out the video below! Love the soup!

A close up video on Doubled-Boiled Superior Shark's Fin in Shark's Cartilage Soup. Look at how Creamy the soup is! I understand they cook it for 8 hours! my favorite among all the dishes! Feel very sorry but this is so rich and delicious. I understand this is only for Chinese New Year that they have the Shark's Fin version. I think there is also fish Maw option for this. Very comforting! Steamed Glutinous Rice with Preserved Meat in Lotus Leaf (荷叶八宝饭) S$32.80 (Small), S$42.80 (Medium), S$52.80 (Large). I always loved the classic sticky glutinous rice wrapped in lotus leaf. It is like a gem hidden under the leaves. The lotus leaf gave a delicate aroma to the rice. The rice is so flavourful with a unique sticky touch.

Last but not least it is the dessert time! A great dessert will always gave the nice comforting finish touch to a great meal. We have the chilled Snow Pear with Red Wine (红酒雪梨) and Nian Gao (年糕). The refreshing snow pear is juicy with red wine sweetness. Nian Gao can be translated to Chinese New Year Cake as well. An auspicious dish that is said to bring good luck. Hence, it is commonly eaten during Chinese New Year.
