My Rating:
(3 out of 5)
Salt Grill & Sky Bar. We went there for our anniversary celebration! Its been a long time since we last been there. It is at Level 55 and 56 at ION Orchard. It is owned and operated by Luke Mangan. Wow factor is definitely the awesome view. Be it night or day. Savouring the modern australian cuisine while appreciating the superb view is such an enjoyable experience.
Ambience
There are 2 levels in the restaurant. We were seated at the higher level. It seems far from the rest of the restaurant. However, it gives a Bird's-eye view on the entire restaurant. We were seated facing the windows. Look at the awesome clear window view. I totally love it! There weren't many customers on that day so it gives a feeling of exclusiveness. We can chat heartily without worrying about disturbing others.
Service
The staff are attentive to our needs. From leading us from the main entrance, take the lift, bring us to our seat to service us the entire night, they are prompt to attend to all our needs.
Food
~Truffle oil & Parmesan French Fries (S$14)~
We added a side order Truffles Fries. We also had truffles fries the last time we came here and we like it. Somehow this round it didn't taste as good as the last time. Sometime it is always like tat, the first time is always the best.
~Degustation Menu (Supreme) S$98~
We ordered the degustation menu (Supreme) S$98 per person. There is an option (additional S$85) to add matching wine to the menu. We didn't take the option as we didn't want to drink so much.
~Complimentary Bread with Luke Mangan Olive Oil and Dukkah~
They serve their bread with olive oil and Dukkah. Dukkah is a dish that consist a mixture of herbs, spices and nuts. Pardon my ignorance. It is my first time to try Dukkah. It add a totally different flavour to bread.
~Confit trout, pickled cauliflower, pork clackling, mustard creme fraiche~
The dishes are so unique. I have never tried eaten such a combination before. It is a pretty dish with a display of colours. Each ingredient has their own textures and colour.
~Baby Vegetables, goat curd, ginger bread crumbs, dried olives~
The taste is a bit bland. I guess I don't really know how to appreciate goat curt.
~Beef Fillet, char grilled, wilted greens, root vegetables, wasabi & ginger broth~
Wow look at the Beef Fillet. It is lightly chared on the outside but inside is very tender and melt into my mouth. 1 word. Yummy~ The broth remind me of our asian soup. Interesting Beef fillet with soup.
~Luke's liquorice parfait, Lime~
I like the lime flavor at the end of the meal. It gives a good relief when you feel very full.
~Petit Fours~
Petit Fours are usually all bite-sized. little cakes, little savoury appetizers, little biscuits. Suddenly, feel like so many desserts at the meal. I gladly welcome this. Desserts are always my favourite. Sweet tooth :D
~Conclusion~
We ordered the following
- Degustation menu (Supreme) : S$98
- Side order of Truffle Fries : S$14
It has awesome scenic view. Ideal for romantic dates or friends gathering for special occasions. It is accessible as you can just right above Orchard MRT station. Best to go early then you can enjoy the day and night view and photo-taking. The service is attentive and the dishes are unique and yummy. During weekends, the carpark are usually packed. Do go early or you can consider valet.
