MY RATING: (3 out of 5)

IKURA (FOOK HAI BUILDING)~ A cozy and intimate hidden gem at Fook Hai Building. It is actually less than 10 minutes walk from Chinatown MRT. So convenient! It serves a good variety of Japanese cuisine. Modern yet authentic Japanese cuisine. From yakitori to sashimi to ramen. There are also set lunch available. The set lunch range from $10.80 to $18. It includes 1 x Main, 1 x Side and 1 x Drink (Hot/ Cold Green Tea).

AMBIENCE
As you slip into restaurant, it is very cozy and intimate. There are also 2 levels. It is great for small family and friends gatherings.

FOOD
GRILLED FISH CHEEK OF THE DAY
Honjitsu Kama Shioyaki. A popular dish among us. They have grilled and present it so well. Love the fish cheek was so MOIST and FLAKY. So FRESH and TENDER! Delicious! Squirt a few drop of LEMON juice makes the fish even more perfect.

YAKITORI (S$1.50 to S$3 per stick)
They have a good variety of yakitori. I always like to order yakitori as I like the grilled meat or vegetables in bite size. Great for sharing. I enjoyed the beef meat ball and Enoki Mushroom Pork Belly! The sauce is not too sweet.

SALMON AVOCADO CARPACCIO S$17
A very pretty dish. It like a little garden. The salmon was fresh and I like that it goes with salad. Making the dish very refreshing and give many layers of textures to it. I will prefer the wasabi sauce to be slightly stronger to have a bit of the wasabi kick.

FRIED KAWAEBI S$8
LITTLE FRIED SHRIMPS! Very crispy till you can eat the shrimp and its shell. It is also more delicious when you squirts a few drops of lemon juice. The sourness from the Lemon complement so well with the shrimp.

CHIRASHI DONBURI S$18
Assorted Sashimi on Sushi Rice. The sashimi is very Fresh and I love them in thick chunky pieces. I like that they also add Tamago. Giving sweetness to the sushi rice. NOM NOM! I LOVE SASHIMI!

ABURI SALMON SUSHI with MENTAIKO SAUCE S$17
Love this sushi. Lightly grilled salmon. It was very fresh and fragrant. So delicious! The mentaiko sauce goes so well with it.

SOFT SHELL CRAB ROLL S$14
The roll was very flavourful. However, I prefer a bit lesser batter on the soft shell crab will be more perfect.

POTATO SALAD WITH IKURA S$7
The potato salad is smooth and creamy and I like that they add IKURA as it gives occasional bursts in my mouth. Delicious and pretty dish.

TONKATSU A breaded, deep-fried pork cutlet. It is crispy and quite tender inside. Like that it come with salad.

GYUTAN SHIOKOSHO ITAME S$12 Stir Fried Slice Beef Tongue. I have never tried before to eat Stir Fried Beef Tongue. Surprisingly, it is actually very tender. I thought it would be chewy but it was not. With the fried garlic slices, they give an extra kick.

BEEF STEAK
Aww look at the picture. The BEEF MARBLING. It is cooked just right. It was so tender and again like the stir fried beef tongue. You should try it with the FRIED GARLIC SLICES for an extra kick.

WHITE CURRY RAMEN S$12.80
So interesting. I never had white curry before. The noodles is not too soft and is chewy. The curry broth is not overly thick or too thin. The broth is flavourful with hints of curry spiciness in it. It is their signature dish.
